Game 1:
A short report of the first game against INRS2:
Even after having a good start from Captain through a great spell of powerplay bowling, MCC couldn‘t stop INRS from scoring a massive total of 212/6 in 20 overs. Sandy was the best among the bowlers with figures of 3-39 and Raja being economic with 1-18 in 4 overs.
Chasing the score of 213 as target, MCC lost regular wickets. On one end Joy held his wicket, but couldn‘t get MCC to win despite a fight. Amol and Vishal showed some hitting prospects, but the game had already slipped out of hands for MCC. The positive that MCC took out of this is they batted all 20 overs and made the oppos bowl their 20 overs. In the end MCC scored 141/7 in the 20 overs. Joy scored 32 and Amol scored 39 and vishal 7.
Game 2:
After the disappointment of losing the first game, MCC showed tremendous character, resilience, and belief to bounce back in outstanding fashion. The team responded exactly as champions do—by staying united, trusting the process, and delivering a complete performance when it mattered most.
A key turning point came during the break when captain Sandy delivered an inspiring speech that re-motivated the entire squad. His words helped the team reset mentally, regain confidence, and step onto the field with renewed energy and determination to turn things around.
Innings One: Bowlers Set the Tone
The foundation of this victory was laid by an exceptional bowling effort. Leading the charge was Sandy, whose devastating spell completely dismantled the INRS-II batting lineup. From the very first over, he applied relentless pressure, picking up crucial wickets and never allowing the opposition to settle.
His discipline, accuracy, and determination inspired the entire bowling unit. Every bowler contributed by maintaining pressure from both ends, while the fielders backed them up with great energy and commitment. Raja got an important breakthrough and the collective bowling effort that restricted INRS-II to a modest total.
Another standout performer was Nirmal, who made a huge impact with the ball despite not being a regular bowler. His superb spell yielded three crucial wickets, breaking the backbone of the INRS-II batting lineup and ensuring they never recovered. Those timely breakthroughs played a major role in restricting the opposition to under 75 runs and proved decisive in MCC’s victory.
A special mention goes to Joy, whose outstanding bowling spell conceded minimal runs. His accuracy and control created immense pressure on the lower-order batsmen, forcing mistakes and contributing significantly to the opposition losing wickets at crucial stages.
Innings Two: Calm Heads Complete the Job
Chasing the target, MCC faced an early setback with the loss of quick wickets. However, rather than panic, the team demonstrated maturity and composure. Joy and Sameer S took responsibility and produced a match-winning partnership that completely shifted the momentum.
Joy anchored the innings beautifully, guiding the chase with confidence. Sameer provided excellent support, keeping the scoreboard moving and playing some crucial attacking shots at key moments. Beyond his runs, Sameer’s sharp cricketing wits both while batting and earlier in the field during the bowling innings kept the environment lively and positive for the entire team, helping maintain focus and energy throughout the match. Together, they ensured that the team crossed the finish line comfortably.
A Victory Built on Team Spirit
While individual performances stood out, this victory was truly a team effort. Every player contributed—whether through bowling, fielding, batting, encouragement from the sidelines, or maintaining belief after the first-game defeat.
The fielding effort from the entire team was nothing short of brilliant. From saving crucial runs to maintaining intensity and supporting the bowlers throughout, every player played their part. The collective commitment in the field ensured that pressure remained on the opposition all through the game and was a major factor in securing this memorable victory.
